Killing of College teacher in Ashulia: Father of accused student arrested

Police arrested father of Ashraful Islam Jitu, a student of Hazi Yunus Ali School and College at Chitrashail in Ashulia, for beating a lecturer of the college to death.

Sources said father of the Ashraful Islam Jitu was arrested from Kumarkhali of Kushtia on Wednesday.

On Saturday, lecturer of the Humanities Department Utpal Kumar was critically beaten by Jitu on the college campus. The teacher was admitted to Enam Medical College Hospital where succumbed to injuries.

The incident triggered condemnation and protest in Savar and other parts of the country demanding arrest of the culprit.

As accused Jitu remains absconding, law enforcers arrested his father.

Jitu, known as Jitu Dada and leader of Kishore Gang (teenage gang), killed the teacher following a previous enmity during Girls’ Inter-Class Cricket Tournament.
